Flats Craft has been trying to source Yak for a long time.. many samples, many suppliers and now finally the “Goldilocks Yak” we have been waiting for. Bucktail aficionados will know how much worse hair is when you can’t use it from butt to tip (cutting down long hair), with the Flats Craft Abominable Yak coming in at 7-8” Hank long, there is more tips per Hank compared to 12-14” hanks, and you can use it like a natural material should be without trying to taper it like a synthetic. Available in 18 colours, Abominable Yak is perfect for wings on baitfish flies, extending and blending with Bucktail, stacking and trimming, wings on Clousers and much more. The unique sting process that Flats Craft use prevents the Yak from feeling like straw (that most Yak is synonymous with) , whilst maintaining vibrant colour.
