Our Story
Tailwater Outfitters opened its doors in 2016 with a simple idea: build the tackle shop we always wished existed. The Norris brothers, lifelong Tampa Bay anglers who spent more time on the flats than in class, got tired of big-box stores where every question was answered by a blank stare, so they did something about it.
What started as small storefront with a few rod racks and a lot of optimism has grown into one of the largest inshore, offshore, and fly fishing shops in the Tampa Bay area — without ever losing the feel of a local shop where somebody knows your name (and your favorite snook spot).

Tailwater Outfitters exists to serve anglers the way we'd want to be served: honest advice, gear we actually fish ourselves, and a shop where a first-timer gets the same respect as a fifty-year fly veteran.

Manager
You'll generally find Branson behind the counter greeting you with a warm Tailwater welcome as you walk in. When he's not here, he's definitely Snook fishing with a Yo-Zuri Pencil
Pat
Tackle and Gear Specialist
You'll probably find Pat restocking tackle, or sharing some tips on how to catch Snook off the beach. WIth over 60 years of experience on the water, he has the answer to most of your questions.
Athen
Tackle and Gear Specialist
When Athen isn't buried in the mangroves chasing Snook, you'll find him behind the checkout counter or at the line machine spooling up your next reel.
Thom
Inshore and Fly Specialist
Thom is usually around the Benchmade case playing with knives or spot checking inventory throughout the store. Ask him why he doesn't fish homeboy leaders anymore.
Ken
Apparel
Ken keeps the store sparkling clean and makes sure our apparel is well stocked. When he's not here, chances are he's enjoying a fine meal, or wading a stream with a 3 wt in his hand.
Aidan
Inshore Specialist / Store Merchandiser
Aiden enjoys spending time on his Gheenoe hunting Tarpon and Snook. But when he's not on the water, he's pulling online orders, merchandising the store, and helping customers catch more snook and redfish.
Dave
Fly Shop Manager
Dave, a Rio Signature Fly Tyer is responsible for the Fly Shop. He takes fly tying more seriously than most people take their taxes.
